The 2025 Volvo EX40: A New Name with More Power

The 2025 Volvo EX40 went by a different name last year: the Volvo XC40 Recharge. But a name change isn’t the only differentiator for this year’s model. You’ll also find a larger battery pack onboard this all-electric compact luxury SUV, boosting range and power. Plus, charging capability is quicker. Performance
This five-passenger Volvo EV SUV come in three trims that you can pair with one of two powertrains:
- Single Motor Extended Range: pairs one electric motor with an 82-kWh battery. Outputs 248 horsepower, 310 lb-ft of torque, and an EPA-estimated range of 296 miles with a zero to 60 mph time as low as 6.9 seconds. Battery can fast charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in 28 minutes. Comes with standard Rear-wheel drive (RWD).
- Twin Motor: matches the 82-kWh battery with dual electric motors to achieve 402 horsepower, 494 lb-ft of torque, and zero to 60 mph time of just 4.6 seconds. EPA-estimated range is 260 miles, and charges in the same time as the single-motor setup. Comes with standard all-wheel drive (AWD).
Infotainment
All three 2025 Volvo EX40 trims come with a full infotainment platform powered by Google built-in. A 9-inch touchscreen is your entry point to the Google App Suite, wireless smartphone charging, and connectivity for Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Keeping you apprised of the vehicle’s performance is a 12.3-inch digital driver display.
Audio-wise, the 2025 Volvo EX40 Core and 2025 Volvo EX40 Plus equip an eight-speaker High Performance audio layout. The 2025 Volvo EX40 Ultra upgrades to a Harman Kardon® premium sound system.
